Ngaruawahia is located near SH1, 105km south of Auckland and 20km northwest of Hamilton, New Zealand. Before SH1 by-passed the town a few years ago, it's once a busy town for tourists to stretch their legs and admire Maori culture around the town. Now it's a quiet town. The town was once considered as a potential capital of New Zealand and is regarded as the Maoridom capital. Queen Elizabeth II has visited Ngaruawahia on two occasions in 1953 & 1974.

Ngaruawahia鎮位於紐西蘭奧克蘭南方105公里的1號公路附近，幾年前1號公路尚未改道，該鎮曾相當熱鬧，現在則變成一個寧靜的小鎮。該鎮的毛利文化氣息濃厚，被認為是毛利人的首都，亦曾被考慮設立為紐西蘭首都，目前該鎮已成為觀光旅遊城鎮，伊利莎白女王二世曾於1953年及1974年訪問該鎮兩次。
